The prediction of results of postnatal measurementsof children born prematurely for adopting reading skills

Premature birth is one of the most important neuro-risk factors with multiple influences on the growth and development of the child. This research is focused on the impact of biological factors for acquisition of reading skills in the group of children born prematurely. The results gained indicate an increased risk of reading difficulties in children born prematurely. Lower birth weight and the gestational age of the child lead to a higher risk level. Analysis of the results from this research proved the clear predictivity of postnatal parameters (birth weight, gestational age, APGAR score) for successful reading in the first grade of elementary school.
