Rare localization of an aneurysmal cyst of the proximal phalanx of the big toe in a boy

We report the surgical treatment of a very rare case of aneurysmal bone cyst in the proximal phalanx of the hallux of a 14-year old boy after an unsuccessful embolisation. Despite the indication for amputation, the cyst was treated by resection and replacement by a free fibular bone graft in order to preserve the first toe due to its importance in gait dynamics
