Quality of life in children with cystic fibrosis

Cystic fibrosis is a chronic, multiorganic disease which influences the quality of life of young patients and their families. The hardest moment in a life of a family with a sick child is the knowledge of diagnosis, when family life becomes harder and changed. Difficulties in the family depend on the child’s age and the severity of the clinical findings as well as of their financial and psychosocial state. An evaluation of the quality of life can be made with a variety of methods, using objective and subjective parameters. The survival of cystic fibrosis patients has been prolonged over the last two decades. Therefore, measures for the care of children and their families should be encouraged.
