Individual dental palatal plate for infants with cleft lip and palate

The purpose of this article is to give basic information on feeding difficulties in children with cleft lip and palate, as well as the methods used for solving these problems. Special attention is given to the use of an individual dental palatal plate, as well as its clinical indications. The fabrication process is described as well as the instructions for use. It is our opinion that the use of an individual dental palatal plate in children with cleft lip and palate, combined with the education of the parents, may reduce feeding time and increase the amount of food intake, thus facilitating normal infant development.
