Endobronchial granuloma secondary to an inhaled foreign body

A one-year old male is presented with endobronchial granuloma secondary to inhalation of a “Smoki” (corn puff with peanut flavouring). The main ingredient in “Smoki” foodstuffs is roasted ground peanut (22%). The “Smoki” liquefied after inhalation in the right main bronchus. Bronchoscopy and lavage of the right main bronchus were performed twelve hours after inhalation. A large endobronchial granuloma developed two months later. The granuloma was further reduced on repeated rigid bronchoscopy (three times, every two weeks). Finally, after the third procedure the right main bronchus was restored and became passable.
