Children with special health care needs in a paediatric emergency service
Children with special health care needs fall ill more often, they are more likely to be treated in hospital, and account for half of all children who die in hospital. In our study 10.6% of children treated in the paediatric emergency service were children with special health needs. Most of them (72.9%) were examined due to complications of their basic illness. Children with special health care needs were admitted to hospital more often than others. Hospital treatment of children with special health care needs and technology dependent children require paediatric and other hospital services to be prepared for their admittance and treatment. Keywords: CHILD; EMERGENCY SERVICE, HOSPITAL
